Vice Chancellor

 

Professor Hamza Mustafa Njozi is the current Vice Chancellor of the Muslim  University of Morogoro. Before his appointment at this University, Dr Hamza  Njozi was a Professor in Literature at the University of Dar es Salaam where he served in various capacities from 1983-2007. Dr. Njozi has edited and authored several books. His book,  The sources Of the Qur’an: A Critical Review of Authorship Theories has been translated into Russian, German, Turkish and Spanish languages. In 1998 he served as an East African Visiting Scholar at the Centre of African Studies, SOAS, University of London and in the following year as a Fulbright Scholar at the Centre for African Studies, University of Florida. From September 2001 to May 2002, Dr. Njozi was Guest Scholar at Uppsala University under the sponsorship of the Swedish Institute. He obtained his BA and MA degrees at University of Dar es salaam and his doctorate degree from the National University of Malaysia (UKM). In 1995 he attended the Folklore Fellows Summer School at the University of Joensuu, Finland. He has published many articles in the field of Literature and Folklore. Dr. Njozi is married to Fatma bt. Burhani and they have six children.

Ag. Deputy Vice Chancellor - Academic

 

Dr Abdurahman M. Juma was employed at Muslim University of Morogoro from December 2005 as Associate Professor to teach History before he was appointed as Acting Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs. He obtained his B. A. (Ed) at University of Dar es Salaam (1983) and majored in History. He studied African Archaeology - M.Phil at Cambridge University (1986), and then PhD at Uppsala University (2004). Dr Juma has conducted research in History and Archaeology of Zanzibar and produced a number of publications. His main research area is the East Coast of Africa. He formerly worked at Zanzibar Department of Antiquities, Museums and Archives as the officer-in-charge of research on, and conservation of Antiquities, and taught History at University College of Education (Zanzibar).
