Profile

Lecturer in the Department of History at the Muslim University of Morogoro with more than eight years of university teaching experience. I teach and research on African History, Sufism, Islamic thought, and the integration of African and Islamic intellectual traditions. My doctoral research at the International Islamic University Malaysia examines the role of Sufism in the spread of Islam from the East African coast to the interior, while my earlier master’s work explored the historical and economic ties between Tanzania and Malaysia (1960–2015). I have authored peer-reviewed publications and undergraduate textbooks, and I also serve on the Internal Examination Board of MUM, Chairperson of MUM Academic Staff Association, and chair the Kitwana Kondo Intellectual Desk. I am committed to advancing scholarship in African and Islamic intellectual history, promoting critical inquiry, and mentoring the next generation of historians.

Grants, Awards, and Academic Leadership

• Appointed Coordinator of NAMA Programs at the Muslim University of Morogoro, representing scholarship beneficiaries and serving as liaison between the University and NAMA Foundation.
• Recipient of the Erasmus+ Visiting Scholarship to Freie Universität Berlin, supporting doctoral research and international academic collaboration.
• Co-researcher awarded the Research Initiative Grant Scheme (Publication), AHAS Kulliyyah of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences, International Islamic University Malaysia, for the project: “Islamic Intellectual Heritage and Post-Colonial Nation-Building: Cultural Continuity and Social Ethics in Malaysia and Tanzania.”
• Principal architect of the MUM Community Fund (MCF), leading its conceptualization, design, and governance framework in collaboration with technical experts.
• Chief Operating Officer, MUM Community Fund (Dec 2025 – Present): overseeing implementation, campaign strategy, and institutional fundraising systems, including micro-donation schemes and waqf-based sustainability models.
